DRIVERS are being slapped with more than 41,000 parking tickets per day by private firms, figures show.They have been accused of using confusing signs, aggressive debt collection and unreasonable fees, sparking calls for major reforms to how the sector is managed.Some 3.8million tickets were handed out between July and September, the RAC Foundation found.That is up 14% from 3.3m during the same time last year and more than double the 1.7m in 2018. Each ticket can be up to £100, meaning the total cost to drivers may be near £4.1m per day.RAC Foundation director Steve Gooding said: "It is hard to believe tens of thousands of drivers are setting out each day intent on flouting parking rules. These numbers suggest that big questions remain about the way the current system is working - or failing." The analysis was based on the number of records obtained from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency by firms chasing vehicle owners for alleged infringements in private car parks. They do not include council-run car parks.
