CALLING a man "bald" is sexual discrimination, a judge has ruled.With hair loss "more prevalent" among blokes than women, it was found using it as an insult is a form of sex-related harassment.It was argued at an earlier tribunal that as some females could also be bald through choice or illness, using the word in relation to a man could not breach equality laws.But Mrs Justice Naomi Ellenbogen dismissed that claim and said such a comment was "inherently related to sex".Her ruling clears the way for electrician Tony Finn to get compensation four years after he was first insulted.He worked for the West Yorkshire-based British Bung Company for 24 years before being fired in 2021.Mr Finn took the company to an employment tribunal claiming he had been the victim of sexulal discrimination by factory supervisor Jamie King, who had called him a "bald c***" during a shop floor row.The panel decided the comment amounted to sex-related harassment and ruled in favour of Mr Finn, who also won other claims of unfair and wrongful dismissal.Mrs Justice Ellenbogen rejected his former bosses' appeal at the High Court and agreed with the original finding that commenting on a man's baldness at work is equivalent to remarking on the size of a woman's breasts.
