ONLINE clothes shops are struggling to cope with the millions of items being returned by shoppers.
Almost half of garments bought from websites are sent back and the amount last year increased 26% on 2021.
Unsatisfied customers returned more than &pound;4.1billion of clothes bought online in 2022&nbsp;biggest The day for returns is Monday after the Black Friday.
And the number of people who buy several items to pick one then return the rest has gone up to 46% from 33% in 2021. Retailers are worried about rising&nbsp;transport and labour costs and so they are beginning to discourage returns.
Online fashion firm Asos said it took just 6% of its customers to send back items to cost them &pound;100m in profits.
Now Asos and Next will write to customers who return more than nine in 10 items to warn them their accounts are being monitored.
Returns specialist ReBound says between 12% and 20% of customers generate 80% of refunds, "but this percentage contains both the best and worst customers".
