WHITE Van Man increasingly tends to be fit and healthy - and into yoga.The popular image of a van driver has long been a macho male with a beer belly, who likes a pint and a Full English.But modern-day version has parked that stereotype, researchers found.A survey of 2,000 van drivers by Citroen found that 58% walk to stay fit, 41% visit the gym, 35% play sport and 14% practise yoga or pilates.Their hobbies commonly include cooking or baking, gardening, reading, arts and crafts and photography.Van drivers are now more likely to break fast on muesli, porridge, yoghurt with granola or even trendy avocado on toast than a traditional Full English.Fewer than a quarter still take sugar in their tea while 8% have soya or oat milk in a cuppa. One in seven now has a vegetarian, vegan or pescatarian diet.Just 6% say they go to the pub in their spare time, preferring to be with family and friends, watching TV or exercising.Citroen UK managing director Greg Taylor said: "It is clear that the habits and lifestyles of van drivers in the UK have moved on from the preconceptions of the previous decade."
