Carla Brown's pet Blu was out freeflying when a seagull and a group of crows chased after him.
The 3ft tall macaw flew on to the pitch and started darting between the players, forcing the match to be halted.
Carla said: "Blu obviously decided that going to the football match was safer because of all the people, and then the birds wouldn't chase him.
"He was squawking loudly while he lost the birds, and he stopped the whole match. I was very apologetic. I went straight to Facebook to say sorry." At the time of the pitch invasion, on the Orkney Islands, Hotspurs were 4-0 up against Stromness.
But after a restart, the game finished 5-5 and Stromness then went on to win on penalties.
When the news hit social media, one wag quipped: "Bet it's good on the wing." Others joked Blu should get a shirt and be made an honorary member of Stromness.
