HOLLYWOOD screenwriters are hoping a "tentative" deal could bring a happy ending to their five-month strike.
The Writers Guild of America announced the potential breakthrough with the group which represents studios, streaming services and producers after 146 days on the picket line.
US comedian, writer and TV presenter Adam Conover said: "We did it. We have a tentative deal."
More than 11,000 WGA members have been on strike over issues including pay and the threat of artificial intelligence.
Despite the possible settlement, no deal is yet in the pipeline for picketing actors.
