A player with 30 goals or assists this season is bound to attract attention, with both Liverpool and Arsenal linked with Marmoush earlier this season. Now the Blues are ready to spend in January, their own interest has emerged in the £50 millionrated Egyptian.
While City need a defensive midfielder and also hold interest in centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov, a striker isn't necessarily top of the list of priorities but would still be a popular signing - especially in a season where the Blues have strangely struggled to score as often as they usually do.
In Marmoush, City would not only be signing a goalscorer but a creative player, too. He has an impressive 18 assists in 65 appearances for Frankfurt in 18 months to go with his 35 goals, averaging a goal contribution every 95 minutes.
"He's responsible for producing danger up front, firing in goals and setting up others," said Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller earlier this season.
