In a significant move to improve working conditions, Ahmedabad's Commissioner of Police (CP), G S Malik, has issued a new directive eliminating 24-hour shifts for police personnel.
Under this order, drivers and duty staff in police vans, Police Control Room (PCR) vehicles, and other key positions will now operate in more manageable 8- or 12-hour shifts.
The decision to end these marathon shifts comes after concerns were raised about the physical and mental strain on police personnel.
