Suresh&rsquo;s death has sparked off a controversy with the Samajwadi Party chief demanding an investigation. Yadav said Suresh was lynched because he was start campaigner for his party.
Suresh had travelled in Yadav&rsquo;s helicopter several times during the election campaign. The SP chief would present him before the crowds and boast that Yogi was also supporting him. On Saturday, Yadav said that Suresh was beaten to death.
Suresh&rsquo;s family members claimed that musclemen from their village had brutally assaulted him.
Suresh was a native of Chaupai village under Sohramau Police Station. According to Sarita Verma, his wife, on July 27/28 their neighbours thrashed him over a minor issues. Sarita, an officer in the state government, said she took her husband to district hospital for treatment. While returning, the neighbours attacked him again, she said.
After this Suresh was admitted to hospital but he succumbed to injuries on Thursday, Sarita said.
She alleged that local police were informed about the attack on Suresh but they did nothing and instead asked him to compromise with the neighbours.
However, the circle officer of Hasanganj, Unnao district, said that Suresh died of a heart attack.
