A CLASSICAL composition dedicated to Plymouth by a 25-year-old rising composer is to be performed for the first time in the city.
Breakwater, by Christopher Churcher, will be performed at the Musica Viva concert on Saturday, February 4, from 7pm at Levinsky Hall, the University of Plymouth. Christopher was the winner of The Arts Institute's under-25s composer competition.
The competition called for UK-based composers ages under 25 to write an overture of five to seven minutes with orchestration of six first violins, five second violins, four violas, four cellos, two basses, two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, two trumpets, and tympani.
