CE speaks to experts on how estrogen hormone supports radiant hair and skin, along with easy ways to boost it naturally
DARSHITA JAIN

If your hair feels thinner or your skin is less radiant than it used to be, then you're not imagining things—it might have a lot to do with your estrogen levels. This hormone, so often associated with reproductive health, plays a major role in maintaining the vibrancy of both your skin and hair. And when estrogen dips, particularly during menopause, the effects can become hard to ignore.

"Estrogen promotes collagen production, which maintains skin elasticity and hydration. It also supports healthy hair by prolonging the hair growth phase, preventing thinning, and improving scalp health," explains K Sunitha Premalatha, Chief Dietician, Yashoda Hospitals.

Collagen is the secret to keeping skin smooth and firm, but when estrogen levels drop, collagen production slows, leaving skin drier, less elastic, and more prone to wrinkles. "Estrogen stimulates the production of collagen and natural oils, keeping the skin firm, hydrated, and smooth," she further adds.
