1.2m hack attempts on voters

SCAMMERS targeted voters more than a million times in the run-up to the General Election.

The Electoral Commission, which oversees UK ballots, blocked 1,221,838 malicious emails in the year to July.

They could have been used to plunder voters’ details to sell on, infiltrate passwords or commit identity fraud.
