£50M PLAN TO STOP EXODUS OF TEACHERS

LABOUR will this week pledge a £50million scheme to give new teachers a cash incentive to stop the staff exodus from classrooms.

Leader Keir Starmer and Shadow Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson will set out the party's plans for the sector in a speech.

And they will vow that if they win the next election, teachers will get a retention payment worth £2,400 after two years in the job.
