Hancock: Johnson apologised for hiring Cummings

MATT Hancock claims Boris Johnson apologised to him for hiring Dominic Cummings.

The revelation emerged in papers he submitted to the Covid inquiry.

They say: "The then-Prime Minister apologised to me for appointing his chief adviser and for the damage he did to the response to Covid-19.

Mr Hancock repeatedly complained about Mr Cummings during a long feud claiming his rival tried to "centralise power" to himself and his decision-making was "known to be erratic.

The former Health Secretary says Mr Johnson accepted that his controversial adviser had "damaged" the coronavirus effort.
