Plane takes the strain for rail staff

NETWORK Rail staff spent over £13,000 per week on planes rather than trains for business trips last year.

Bosses at the state-owned company, responsible for the upkeep of our railways, say flying often works out cheaper.

A total £224,135 went on 1,822 UK flights and £452,638 on 2,605 international jet trips.
