New Delhi: As soon as one enters Kakardooma village in Anand Vihar ward of Vishwas Nagar assembly constituency, one is greeted by a foul stench.
The area, which is battling lack of basic facilities for ages, has open drains, broken roads and mounds of garbage.
Residents blame politicians across party lines for the broken roads, ineffective garbage disposal mechanism, failed sanitation delivery, outbreak of dengue due mosquito breeding, among many other serious issues.
Vijay Singh (63), a villager, said, "They dug up the roads three months ago to put in sewer lines, but failed to repair them. Accidents are common with children, cyclists and rickshaw-pullers face often getting hurt. Even the waterlogging problem has become severe now." Vishwas Nagar constituency has four wards - Preet Vihar (204), IP Extension (205), Anand Vihar (206) and Vishwas Nagar (207) with over two lakh voters. Each ward faces the common problems of garbage collection and disposal, waterlogging, faulty drainage, mosquitoes, broken roads and parking issues.
