New Delhi: BJP, AAP and Congress had one thing in common while giving tickets to candidates — all have favoured relatives of former and existing MLAs and senior party functionaries.
BJP has fielded former MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah’s son, Sardar Arjun Pal Singh Marwah, from Lajpat Nagar. An advocate by profession, Arjun owns immovable assets, including properties in Chandigarh worth Rs 2.7 crore, movable assets worth Rs 22.3 lakh, and Rs 23.7 lakh in cash.
Tickets have been given by BJP to former mayor Narendra Chawla’s wife, Urmila Chawla, from Janakpuri West and former deputy mayor and councillor from CR Park Subhash Bhadana’s daughter, Kanchan Bhadana Choudhary. “She’s active in the party for the past 10 years and was an executive member of New Delhi district,” said Bhadana.
