New Delhi: Lieutenant governor VK Saxena on Monday served a legal notice on Aam Aadmi Party and five of its functionaries for allegedly levelling "false, derogatory and malicious allegations" against him, "spreading fake news" and carrying out a "motivated propaganda" to "malign his image".
AAP had last month alleged that the LG, during his tenure as chairman of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), had got demonetised currency worth Rs 1400 crore exchanged by pressuring his staff. AAP legislators had raised the issue in the Delhi Assembly during a special session in August and demanded the LG's removal and a CBI investigation in the case.
Reacting to the notice, AAP sources asked why the LG was scared of a CBI raid and investigation if he had not done anything wrong.
"Why does he not offer himself for an independent inquiry? He should stop threatening people. He has done so much corruption in KVIC that now he is trying to prevent it from being exposed by threatening people. But he cannot silence us. We will keep raising our voice against corruption. We have zero tolerance against corruption," said a source.
