Winds pull Delhi-NCR out of 'severe' air zone

Relatively strong southeasterly winds came to the rescue of Delhi-NCR on Saturday, partially lifting the toxic haze hanging over the region for the past few days by providing ventilation. After two days of “severe” air quality, Delhi’s AQI improved a shade to “very poor” and is likely to remain in that range for the next few days, reports Kushagra Dixit.

New Delhi: 

The city’s 24-hour AQI was 381, on a scale of 0 to 500, against 447 a day earlier and 450 on Thursday. The “severe” zone begins at 401.

Rai Appeals To Neighbours To Ensure Proper Implementation Of GRAP Measures

New Delhi: Delhi environment minister Gopal Rai on Friday appealed to the chief ministers of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to ensure proper implementation of GRAP measures in their states.

Rai urged them to take measures to divert trucks carrying non-essential goods to the peripheral expressways to avoid traffic jams at the capital's borders.
