TRULY THE BEST WE'VE EVER HAD

On March 30, 1998, a foal was born who would turn out to be one of the most important horses in horse racing.

Galileo was out of Urban Sea and by the mighty sire Sadlers Wells and nobody knew then just how successful he would be not only on the racecourse but even more so in the breeding of generations of top class racehorses.

He ran eight times in a career lasting from Oct 2000 until Oct 2001 winning six of those races. His first start on the racecourse was at Leopardstown in a maiden over 1m. Trained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Mick Kinane he duly bolted up by 14 lengths. He won his next two races and all eyes turned to his 4th race which was the Epsom Derby. He won The Derby under Mick Kinane by 3 lengths.
