KYRAN HAS GOT LOFTY AMBITION

KYRAN Lofthouse reckons MK Dons’ firepower can finally end the club’s play-off hoodoo.

The Buckinghamshire outfit have lost all five of their previous stabs at promotion via the extended season showdowns in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2012 and 2022 - and without the consolation of a day out at Wembley, having exited at the semi-final stage on each occasion

But Mike Williamson’s men went into the end of the regular campaign yesterday having netted eight more goals than any of the teams still capable of featuring in the play-offs and with an in-form striker in Max Dean, below, who had scored six goals in his last five outings.

On the significance of the side’s cutting edge, Lofthouse told The FLP: “These big games usually rely on big moments and goals are the most important thing, so our firepower will definitely help us.

“We missed Max when he was out injured but, when he came back, he was on fire straight away. He’s a great player and character to have around and will be very important to us.”

Williamson enjoyed the luxury of replacing Dean and Alex Gilbey at the break after the pair had netted last weekend against Harrogate.
