For me, the tall trees and greenery that make up forests create a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere. That’s why I came up with the idea to combine that feeling with a classically East Asian building.
Given the number of trees needed for the forest setting, I knew that my scene would be extremely heavy. My solution to this was to simply use 2D PNGs for the trees, which helped to keep the polygon count in check while also bringing more realism to the project.
For the other elements in the scene, namely the buildings themselves and the stairs, I used assets from BlenderKit. It’s a great add-on that offers artists a whole host of different models and materials that can be used in your projects, plus so much more including ready-made scenes to give you a real head start.
01DOWNLOAD THE BLENDERKIT PLUGIN
The first job is to get the BlenderKit plugin downloaded and installed. It’s a great resource for artists and has a free plan available, which gives you access to over 12,000 models and materials, as well as premade scenes, HDRIs and brushes. There’s also a subscription option that starts at a reasonable $9 per month, which opens up thousands more models for you to use.

HOW DO I MASTER MATERIALS IN KEYSHOT?
One of the best things about KeyShot is its ability to create and render realistic materials. When paired with beautiful lighting, product visualisations take on a whole new level of believability. When it comes to materials, KeyShot isn’t quite as advanced as some other rendering packages, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still able to create some killer materials.
