Centuries before the arrival of Jesus, early Europeans celebrated light and birth in the darkest days of winter. Churches are decorated with lights and Christmas adornments. Besides, the customary rituals, Christmas is celebrated today, across India with elaborate preparation that often involved travel, get-together, music, dance and the exchange of gifts.
