Gen X poster boy Ethan 'HOW I SURVIVED HOLLYWOOD'

Losing his heartthrob title was a relief for the serious-minded star
Gen X poster boy Ethan 'HOW I SURVIVED HOLLYWOOD'

Ethan Hawke might be just 51 years old, but the Hollywood star can already feel the cool winds of old age blowing his way.

"I've definitely made the turn from being an old young person to being a young old person," The Black Phone actor confides.

"It's the beginning of my last act - I only have so many movies left. When I was young, I was like, 'I'll do this, I'll do that...' thinking I had all the time in the world.

"Now, I'm like, 'I didn't learn anything from that one or that one, and that one would've been better spent in three months with my family.""

It certainly seems like a lifetime ago since Ethan shot to stardom, aged 18, for his role in the beloved 1989 coming-of-age Poets Society.

Since then, he has starred in more than 70 movies, been married to and divorced from one of Hollywood's sexiest sirens, and got rehitched to his eldest children's former nanny. He has fathered four kids and been nominated for as many Oscars.

As if that wasn't enough, right now the Reality Bites star is also watching his eldest child, daughter Maya Hawke, come into her own as an actress.

The 24-year-old has impressed audiences around the globe with her role in the hit Netflix '80s nostalgia drama Stranger Things and no one is more pleased for her than her famous dad.
