When it comes to exercise benefits, swimming is in “a league of its own – it combines cardio, strength training and muscle toning, while also helping you to relax and de-stress”, says former paralympic coach Joanne Love.
“You may be aware that exercise releases endorphins, which increases your feelings of wellbeing, but swimming goes one step further. With its constant rhythmic action and soothing water sounds, it also aids relaxation, regardless of the amount of effort expended. It promotes relaxation responses, helping to relieve stress and tension.” Make a splash at your local pool or give the ocean a go and master swimming this summer!
