AGEING WITH GRACE

A 5-year old Youtube Video talked about a gorgeous, eloquent American medical doctor called Dr Mellissa Freeman. Dr Freeman dressed elegantly, used the local transport to go to her clinic and helped patients with opioid addiction overcome their problem. What makes this feat astounding is that Dr Freeman was 92 years old at that time. The last comment I checked (a year old) said that Dr Freeman was alive and thriving at 96.

Ageing gracefully doesn't only mean reducing lines and wrinkles and maintaining a fit body, but also about thriving mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Whilst only Dr Freeman can reveal the secret to her youth and vitality despite age, one can just share a few proven ways to age like fine wine.

Eat Healthy And Stay Hydrated

One can literally eat one's way into youth by making the right food choices and compulsorily including a couple of foods in your diet. Vegetables and fruits are packed with antioxidants and protect your skin from cellular damage. Choose a rainbow to ensure your nutritional needs are being met. Foods rich in healthy fats (avocados, nuts, seeds, eggs and seafood) are great for general health and are a sure-shot way to healthy, radiant skin.

Choose whole grains like brown rice, oats and millets over items prepared from refined wheat flour. Staying away from refined carbs, sugar and processed foods can minimise free radicals in your skin thereby giving it a less wrinkled appearance. Avoiding alcohol and replacing caffeinated beverages with herbal teas like chamomile, lemongrass and hibiscus tea helps reduce stress leading to a more youthful overall appearance. Drinking 3-4 litres of water every day can help flush out toxins from your system and provide a glow that no cream can replace.
