Giving and receiving gifts is so joyful. But have you ever wondered that it's the simplest gifts received that usually become the most treasured? And, they stay with us forever. In the year 2005, when I was in class 11, one evening, my loving father, knowing my love for English, returned home holding three thick books. "This is for you," he had simply mouthed. They were freshly launched, a set of Oxford dictionaries which I still refer to. Two of them titled, Language Reference and Quotations and Proverbs are magnets to me. My silent teachers, they seem to give me much more than just brushing away my doubts. Most of my published pieces are peppered with inspiring adages or quotes -all thanks to them, which has made my work richer. On some of the pages, I have also scribbled notes, underlined certain words, and even pressed rose petals, which I had collected from a gurdwara in Delhi, nearly nine years ago. They continue to be 'gold mines' on my writing table.
