On a cold and rainy June morning, I saw him online on a post by Woodrock Animal Rescue. He was the one. I felt an instant connection. Gentle, soulful eyes – a sweet boy with a sad heart. I knew immediately that he was meant to be ours.

He stared unforgivingly at the camera from beneath a quaint colourful bandanna – the closest thing to a frown a dog might manage. He was seven years old, by the vet’s estimate. He was, of course, one of the most beautiful creatures I’d ever seen. A face, you could say, that only a mother could love.
