Bali, one of the only predominant Hindu Islands in Indonesia, is a balm for tired eyes. After a smooth passage through immigration, the “Titi Banda” statue will most likely greet you. It depicts Lord Rama building the famous bridge with troops of monkeys to rescue his wife, a captive of Rahwana. Well known for some very talented artisans of silverware, gold and wood, the people in Bali are warm and friendly. Along with a plethora of temples, volcanoes and beautiful paddy fields, there are countless other gems, including the famous Ubud monkey forest, Goa Gajah Elephant Caves, fantastic surfing spots and various forms of cultural dances, amongst others. We were lucky to encounter some on our last non-diving day.
Bali is the perfect diving destination. Very rarely will one return without some great images. There are several reasons for this.
1) Warm waters in most places
2) Fascinating marine life ranging from the smallest critters to large Mantas and Mola Molas
3) Inexpensive efficient services
4) Very knowledgeable local dive guides
5) Dive sites are not far, so very easy to access
6) A very large range of options to stay
7) Fantastic night and dawn dives
We were a group of 7 divers on a trip that I had organized. We had door to door dive service package with all equipment. For a photographer this saves an average of at least 10 kilos in baggage. Our trip was to cover Menjangan, Pemuteran, Tulamben, Amed, and Padang Bai.
