The authors take us on the trail of a gecko from West Bengal, through the hills of the Bankura district.
In his book, “The Reptiles of British India”, published in 1863, Albert Gunther said that he had collected three specimens of East-Indian Leopard Gecko, one from Chittagong (Bangladesh) and two from Russelconda (then Madras province). Another one was collected from the Annamalai mountains by Captain R.H. Beddome. The fifth one was collected by W. Elliott from a public bath at Waltair.
