TAKING PART in this year’s Jaguar Run to Eastbourne on one of the warmest days of the year [see JW, August 2017, p95] was the reminder I needed that I’d never investigated the non-working air conditioning on my X300, despite my three years’ ownership. Okay, I’d once attempted to put fresh gas into the system using a kit, but the gas escaped as soon as I put it in, so I did what I do best and decided to leave it. The car worked perfectly otherwise, and investigating defects that wouldn’t render it undriveable weren’t a top priority.
