“Just going to look at a Hemi car is a big deal for a guy like me”
“One of my longtime customers called me up. He said he had something to show me,” Jeffrey Fude said. Fude operates a small auto repair shop in Ripon, Wisconsin, called J & H Drive train Service. A self-described old car nut, he caters to classic car owners in the area. “About 20 minutes later I heard this rumbling coming down the road, and he pulled in.”
A grinning Dave Cornelius stepped out of his new acquisition, a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere Satellite two-door hardtop.
“I said to Dave, ‘Well, what is that? A 383 car?’”
No sooner had “383” left his mouth than Fude spotted 426 badges on a front fender. He should have known from the sound.
“I asked him if the original engine was still in there. He popped the hood and that’s when I ran to get my camera to take some pictures. You don’t see this every day, you know.”
Cornelius told us, “It wasn’t a barn find. The guy that had it was driving it. When I first saw it, it was parked at his business with a bunch of other cars he has.”
