Bollywood has stories to tell which makes us believe in the magic of fantasies. Here’s yet another ‘offscreen’ one – the story of a brainy young girl possessing a triple honours degree in business, finance and economics from Alliance Manchester Business School in London who always aspired to be an investment banker, landed up becoming a shining star in the Indian film industry.
Born in the small town of Ambala in Haryana, never in the farthest reaches of her dreams, little Parineeti thought that one day she’d become an actor. An always studious girl, she had her aspirations drawn towards academics. As far back as she can remember, she had always aspired to be an investment banker. While pursuing her studies in London, the assiduously bright Chopra also lead the catering department of the Manchester United Football Club. It was only after the economic recession of 2009, that she decided to move to Mumbai. Yes, it’s true that Bollywood would have missed a very talented and boisterous diva had the economic recession not taken place. The vivacious Chopra moved with her actor-sister Priyanka Chopra in Mumbai so as to explore several professional opportunities. It was her sister Priyanka who first introduced her to the Yash Raj Films and she became a part of one of Bollywood’s biggest production and distribution company in no time; assisting behind the scenes in production, unlike her sister. Parineeti Chopra began working with Yash Raj Films as a Public Relations Consultant before signing a three-film contract with them. While sharing her experience once, she was quoted saying, “But what has been the strangest part is that till a year ago, I was sitting on the other end of the table and fixing up appointments for the stars...but now, the same team I was a part of is doing everything for me.”
