Charged with an ambition to make The Postcard Hotel the fastest growing hotel chain in the country, Founder and ceo Kapil Chopra plans to launch 50 hotels in the next five years
The luxury hotel segment is a fast growing vertical of the Indian hospitality industry. Indian tourism and hospitality industry, accounting for around 6.23 per cent of the national GDP and 8.78 per cent of total employment, has emerged as one of the key sectors driving the growth of the service sector and, thereby, the Indian economy. Experts suggest that international players will continue to invest in the country’s premium hospitality space to leverage the growing business opportunity. Despite the upswing, the luxury hotel market has witnessed the least amount of innovation over the last decade, says Kapil Chopra, former President of The Oberoi Hotel, Chairman of the board of EazyDiner, an eating-out app, and now the Founder and CEO of The Postcard Hotel, officially launched on December 18, 2018, with three properties in Goa.
Serving innovation
“In India and even globally people are launching budget hotels, thinking that millennials prefer them,” says Chopra. “I believe that millennials do not classify hotels by price; they classify hotels by experiences.”
