Widescale Awareness Is Central To Green Printing Adoption

The rapid initiatives taken by various government authorities to curb the plastic menace has made the discussions on the adoption of eco-friendly practices more profound, especially in the OOH space where the PVC flex used for advertising has been in the line of fire at many places. The Indian OOH industry is gradually moving in the directed of green solutions but currently, the concentration is largely on the media/material and less so on green printing aspects. “Green advertising has different angels to it that include inks that should be green, energy used to print should be energy efficient where fans are used to dry the print instead of heat, and definitely the media being used to print should be eco-friendly. These three aspects are key to eco-friendly printing. However, today everyone is looking at just the kind of media being used,” says Smart Bansal, DGM, Colorjet.

Major printing solutions companies like Colorjet are working on inks that are eco-friendly. “Inks happen to be a critical part because once the media gets chemically treated with ink it makes a difference in the decomposition proposition,” he says. ColorJet manufactures its ink according to the European compliance norms and are RHS certified.
