In his speech, he mentioned that the film was full of twists and turns and he really had to go out of his comfort zone to essay the role. Arjun Chakraborty said it was an honour to carry forward the legacy of Ray's Apu and said the award was a recognition of the fact that he did something right.

Director Anik Dutta, who Director award for Borunbabur Bondhu, dedicated his award to his grand-uncle Bimal Roy. And he also remembered the late Soumitra Chatterjee, the protagonist of his film, in his speech.
