SONU KE TITU KI SWEETY GIRL, NUSHRAT BHARUCHA, TELLS RAGHUVENDRA SINGH THAT SHE’S ENJOYING HER SUCCESS
After 12 years of a long journey, the pretty Nushrat Bharucha has finally tasted blockbuster success. Her films with Luv Ranjan, Pyaar Ka Punchnama (PKP, 2011) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (PKP 2, 2015) were hugely successful. But with his Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (SKTKS) this year, she has entered the coveted 100-crore club. The big success of a small film has dramatically changed the perception around Nushrat. The unconventional actor’s now being considered as a heroine, who can deliver. Currently, she’s shooting for two films. First is a comedy titled Turram Khan, opposite Rajkummar Rao. It’s directed by Hansal Mehta and produced by Ajay Devgn and mentor Luv Ranjan. She has another quirky comedy titled Dream Girl with Ayushmann Khurrana on the floor as well.
Turram Khan reunites her with her Love Sex Aur Dhoka (LSD, 2010) co-star Rajkummar. “I wanted to do a different film. It’s great that I got to do that with Hansal sir. I love his cinema, his characters and the world he creates,” she says. “Also Raj! I’m most excited to work with him again after eight years. LSD was an amazing experience. I’m sure this one will be an even better journey,” she gushes.
Nushrat’s entry into showbiz was rather unplanned. Her parents never wanted her to do films. It was just a random call for an audition that got her a role in the TV serial Kitty Party. After a few months she left the show and set her sights on the big screen. She featured in films like Kal Kisne Dekha and Jai Santoshi Maa (2006). But it was Dibakar Banerjee’s dark Love Sex Aur Dhokha, where Nushrat played a victim of honour killing, that won her notice.
