From A Rich, Spoilt Kid To An Actor Who Delivers… Arjun Kapoor Shares His Shortfalls And Strengths With Rahul Gangwani.
THERE ARE FEW WHO ARE FOR THE MOVIES BORN. And Arjun Kapoor is one of them. As a norm, most star kids attend prestigious film schools before they pose for their portfolios. But Arjun’s instruction happened in the studios. Yes, he does rue the fact that he didn’t obtain a formal degree. Being a producer’s son, he’s well-conversant with and has learnt to enjoy the frills and drill that goes into mounting of a dream on celluloid. From arranging props for a film as an AD, being a production controller to wooing the box-office as a leading man, Arjun’s journey has been one of erudite evolution. Here, Arjun, gives insights into his story…
Do you regret not completing your education?
I’ve been lucky enough to travel and meet new people. My profession helped me develop a wellrounded personality. It would’ve definitely helped to have a well-rounded personality before I entered the profession as well. I would’ve been grounded had I studied abroad and lived away from home. I’m not as socially evolved as I’d like to be. I’m not great at making friends. College would’ve helped there. Life is about learning new cultures and educating yourself about the world. I’m doing all that now. But I wish it had started when I was 18-19. The independence, which I could’ve enjoyed earlier, I got only after turning 26. I don’t look back with regret but always with a ‘what if’.
Your practical learning must have happened during your stint as an assistant director…
