We are at Armaan Jain’s sprawling office – he happens to be the son of Raj Kapoor’s youngest daughter Rima and her husband Manoj Jain, neither of whom forayed into the cinema spotlight. This third-generation office in Fort, overlooks the heritage colonial structures of old-Mumbai. And in keeping with the charm of all things of vintage, it boasts of a hidden loft that he plans to convert into a creative work space with his fiance, Anissa Alia Malhotra, after getting married in February 2020!

Their chemistry is subtle; she calls the shots with a SoBo confidence and he makes sure the team is well fed – typical of a blue chip Kapoor! He moves around with a quiet, clandestine intention, as though, in addition to ordering food for the team (which includes lots of butter chicken, yellow dal and desi kebabs from an ancient restaurant in Ballard Estate); it seems he might be looking for a drink. “He is usually hyper during shoots – but for some reason it’s me today!” laughs his better half, who is an only child to a Punjabi father and Parsi mother – a mother known for a devoted Buddhist practice.
