OPEN THE DOORS TO THEIR BEAUTIFUL HOME HIGH IN THE ANDALUSIAN MOUNTAINS
Spanish designers Blanca and Angela Aguado Andrada-Vanderwilde have something more than a love of fashion as a bond – they also have a wonderful white stuccoed farmhouse home that offers mesmerising views over the Sierra Norte mountain range north of Seville.
It was built almost eight decades ago by their architect grandfather José Aguado, say the sisters, inviting HELLO! inside the stunning four-storey property, with its oxblood red trim, lush gardens and family-sized swimming pool.
José had inherited the land, which had been in the family since the beginning of the 19th century, and used to love climbing to the top of the mountains to admire the spectacular Andalusian scenery. He thought the spot would be a wonderful location for a home so, one cold day in 1940, he decided to level the land using dynamite and built the magical villa.
FROM FARM TO FASHION
Named Santa María Magdalena, his dream is now the centre of a sun kissed working estate, home to a local breed of cattle, Iberian pigs and, when work schedules allow, his two savvy fashion-designer grand-daughters.
Innovative when it comes to their designs, the women have left the interiors of the family retreat untouched.
“It’s exactly as it was when our grandparents first settled in,” they tell HELLO! as one, showing us around the beautiful tiled stairway, hunting trophies and vintage chandeliers – the scenes of many happy childhood memories.
VIVA VANDERWILDE
Keen fashionistas, the sisters launched Vanderwilde in 2013, naming it after their mother María’s side of the family.
“We were struggling to come up with a brand name when we realised that the best name was already in our DNA,” they say.
