Partying the night away, Casey Anthony didn’t seem to have a care in the world. But behind the 22-year-old’s smile and sultry dance moves was a devastating secret. Just days earlier on June 16, 2008, the single mother from Orlando, Florida, had learnt her two-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony had vanished. Disturbing as this sounds, Casey said nothing of it for 31 days.

‘[She seemed] happy… [she was] having a grand old time,’ said Casey’s boyfriend at the time, Tony Lazzaro, who was with her the day her daughter went missing.

It was only the beginning of the mum’s bizarre behavior and elaborate lies, which plagued the case that would see Casey Anthony face the death penalty.

Nine years on, the new three-part documentary Casey Anthony: An American Murder Mystery revisits the complicated investigation and explosive trial, dissecting what went on behind the scenes to determine whether the ‘party girl’ got away with murder.
