He’s been a dashing pirate and a mesmerising elf in two of the highest-grossing film franchises in the world, but when you hear the name Orlando Bloom these days, it’s usually a certain set of nude paddle boarding images that come to mind.

‘I’ve been photographed a million times in a million ways,’ laughs the 40-year-old of the now-infamous images of himself and then-girlfriend Katy Perry. ‘I have a good radar. We’d been completely alone for five days. Nothing around us. There was no way anyone could get anything. So I had a moment of feeling free.’

But free he was not, with the resulting snaps splashed across the front pages of newspapers worldwide the very next day. ‘It was extremely surprising. I wouldn’t have put myself in that position if I’d thought it would happen,’ he admits. ‘What can I tell you? Note to self: you’re never free. Ha!’

CUTE CO-PARENTING

While their marriage was relatively short lived, splitting in 2013 after just three years, Orlando reveals his relationship with his baby mama is now stronger than ever.

‘With Miranda, there was a sense that I don’t want my son to go back through the internet where people have made up lies [about us],’ he says of their amicable divorce – with the pair and their son Flynn stepping out as a family unit shortly after they announced their split. ‘Miranda and I have a remarkable relationship. We co-parent really well.’
