Chatting to OK! en route to JKF Airport after wrapping a photo shoot in New York, Shanina Shaik is a woman on a mission. The Make Me a Supermodel runner-up and Victoria’s Secret alum is gearing up to marry fiancé Gregory ‘DJ Ruckus’ Andrews – a man she says ‘opened my eyes to a whole new world about how women should be treated and respected’.

Their pairing happened after the Aussie stunner split from her long-term boyfriend Tyson Beckford, who’d been her mentor on the 2008 TV modelling contest when she was just 17, in 2015.

With a calendar brimming with modelling jobs, a new gig with David Jones, family across the globe and a wedding to plan, 2017 might just be the busiest – and best – year yet for the Miami-based 26-year-old. It’s a long way from Melbourne, where she grew up dreaming of a career in the fashion industry.

‘When I was nine years old I would watch [the] Fashion TV [channel] late into the evening,’ she’s previously revealed. ‘I learnt everything about fashion from watching that show.’

And while Shanina knows ‘modelling is not forever’, she realises it’s definitely ‘a platform to move into other things’, including acting. ‘I’m a real action girl, so I would love to be in action movies,’ she once said.

There are also plans to move into the cosmetics biz with her own brand – in time, of course! ‘Over the years, being in the make-up chair and working with amazing make-up artists, I’ve learnt so much,’ Shanina explained in 2016.
