Being stuck inside the same four walls for months with limited contact to the outside world is enough to push most relationships to breaking point – unless it’s how you originally met.
Love Island husband and wife Jess, 27, and Dom Lever, 29, have credited the ITV2 show, which catapulted them to fame in 2017, for saving their relationship under lockdown.
Dom tells OK!, “If it wasn’t for Love Island, lockdown would have been seriously difficult. The experience of doing the show is basically what we’ve been living these past few months.”
Speaking from their home in Devon, Jess adds, “Lockdown is a lot like Love Island in terms of just being on top of each other and not in the sexy way [laughs]. No space, no separate toilets, you just have to deal with each other and be okay with it.
“A bit of patience, him being my best mate and him being fairly attractive and hard to stay mad at is probably what got us through.”
The couple have been kept on their toes by their adorable 10-month-old son, whose name they have chosen to keep out of the public eye.
Although they’re grateful to the show for helping them through lockdown, they have mixed views as to whether they’d allow their own son to appear on it in years to come.
