GoldSeat is a licensed on-the-go offline entertainment application for premium travel services across Air, Bus and Railway Network in India. Headquartered in Delhi, the company bridges the gap and provides latest HD content which runs seamlessly without any data cost and even without connectivity. GoldSeat is looking to tap the hugely untapped market of over 500 million passengers in travel sector in India, which is predominantly dominated by road travel followed by Railway and Air. GoldSeat has already begun the services in 170 buses catering to about 5,000 passengers daily. Nijhum Rudra spoke to Gaurav Kapahi, Co-Founder, GoldSeat about the current scenario of the on-the-go entertainment sector in India and how GodlSeat plans to tap this market!
How does GoldSeat work?
The entire GoldSeat entertainment profile is linked to a device installed in the bus which acts as a server to all the licensed content available for the travelers. The mobile app which is just 3MB in size can be downloaded from either Google Play or App store when the traveler boards the bus and login using their Facebook id. The app offers OnThe-Go Offline Entertainment, Multi – Band Network, Unlimited Movies and TV Shows Streaming, HD videos, Offline Media Streaming, and Free Wi-Fi. Travelers can connect to GoldSeat Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is a multi-band network and is enabled with the URA filtering technology which filters the kind of content which can be accessed through the technology. The service is completely free for the passengers.
We use Wi-Fi (as a technology) to stream content to the smart phones/devices through the device that we install in each bus/vehicle. The app offers On-The-Go Offline Entertainment, Multi – Band Network, Unlimited Movies and TV Shows Streaming, HD videos, Offline Media Streaming, and Free Wi-Fi.
Can you please describe the business model of GoldSeat?
GoldSeat operates on a subscription based model where the operators/owners of the buses pay on a monthly basis and get all services bundled within the subscription amount
