With the recently celebrated Meatless Day, we went about the city wanting to know who truly believes in the cause of animals apart from the institution that has valiantly fought for the rights of the animals.
While at it, we came across Mojdeh Farashahi, founder of Bodhisatva, who has been relentlessly working on giving a lease of life to animals in need.
Starting off the conversation, Mojdeh says, “I am a believer of the idea that the greatest gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy.Trending the path of Buddhism, I discovered the Bodhisattva way of life. Also, I had always dreamt of such a platform where I could be of service to someone, get involved in a cause and be able to reduce another’s suffering. Bodhisatva, my NGO, has given me this opportunity.”
Continuing, she adds, “I started volunteering at various NGOs for humans and animals. The volunteering work also included raising funds, asking for help to reach out to the homeless animals and homeless people in our city. During this, I was moved by the amount of work that still needed to be done. That’s when I started working independently towards my causes with the help of my friends and social contacts. It has been two years and has been a thoroughly fulfilling experience.”
That’s a beautiful beginning to a great cause, leading us to our next question of what the NGO is all about. “Ours is an NGO for human and animal welfare. We hope to create compassionate and supportive communities,” responds Mojdeh succinctly.
