When you live with a lot of animals, people generally think it’s a safe bet to get you to look after theirs. It isn’t. We may be surrounded by happy, healthy creatures, but what visitors don’t usually see is the ‘dark side’.

Very occasionally there’s a crack in the veneer of rural idyll; the unsuspecting visitor gets a glimpse of something darker, particularly during lockdown when we’re not expecting anyone to turn up.
