On Wednesday during a function in Lucknow Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav had left his speech with a remark: I am leaving my talk incomplete.
The sentence has summed up the situation of young socialist Turk; Akhilesh who is facing setbacks from within his party and family members. After several years, Akhilesh has emerged as a leader who is acclaimed by opposition but criticised by his own party men.
The latest show was in ticket distribution. Akhilesh from the onset has been claiming that since he holds the CM post it is his responsibility to choose candidates, as it is his accountability. He wanted to establish that it is his work, which will be put to test in coming assembly polls.
But amidst drama, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav declared list of 325 candidates, which includes 176 seats, which SP has won in 2012. Mulayam Singh Yadav claimed that 4200 applications had been received from ticket aspirants.
A quick glance at the list shows that Akhilesh Yadav has got a raw deal. State president Shivpal Yadav has emerged a clear winner at least for now with the declaration of candidate. Many of Shivpal Yadav's supporters had made it to the list while Akhilesh's supporters had been sidelined.
Akhilesh Yadav has sacked eight ministers during his tenure. All of them managed to get ticket again from SP. The list includes Narad Rai, Ambika Chaudhary, Shadab Fatima, Om Prakash Singh, Raja Mahendra Aridaman Singh. Shivpal Yadav, Shivkumar Beria, Yogesh Pratap Singh and Rajkishor Singh. Not only Rajkishor but his brother Brijkishor Singh too has been given ticket.
