Over the past 12 months no one has slayed like actress, philanthropist and UN ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha – DRUM’s person of 2017.
IT HASN’T been a good year for Nomzamo Mbatha – it’s been an incredible one!
The popular actress, presenter and model has clinched armloads of awards, blown Mzansi away with her acting skills, landed many a lucrative endorsement contract – and even caught the eye of the United Nations.
In the midst of a rather exceptional crowd, she simply excelled – that’s why we at DRUM decided to make her our standout person for 2017.
Let’s start with the awards.
Nomzamo won three YOU Spectacular gongs after the public overwhelmed her with votes in the popular celeb contest run by our sister magazine – most stylish female celeb, sexiest woman and favourite couple along with Maps Maponyane.
The 27-year-old beauty also landed a coveted African Pride award in London for most outstanding achievement in film – Africa and concedes she’s had “a very good 2017.
“Many of the things I’ve always wanted to do and wanted to embark on happened in one year. I didn’t think they would,” she says.
So why does she think so many good things happen to her?
Maybe because she’s still the same person she’s always been, she tells DRUM.
“People say I haven’t changed – I am still the same Nomzamo. There’s no time to put on an act. I am just myself, I’m real. I love human connections – I connect with people because I’m curious about them, so I think that might be it too.”
