Biffy Clyro ruled the Nikon Presents the VO5 NME Awards Nominations Party
On JANUARY 12, NME hosted the Nikon Presents the VO5 NME awards nominations Party in London. The party took place at new venue Omeara, which opened late last year and is already proving a legendary addition to the city’s live music scene.
Fans were able to vote for their favourite acts throughout the night via handy voting stations, get papped with their own NME award and gorge on free pizza courtesy of Baz+Fred. Best of all, they were treated to a special acoustic set from Biffy Clyro. nominated for Best British Band and Best Festival Headliner, the trio crammed plenty of bangers into a 50-minute set. a full house was rapt, singing along to every word.
Simon Neil and co were in playful form, swapping giant festival slots for one of their most intimate gigs in years. Dishing out favourites from latest album ‘Ellipsis’ and highlights from their back catalogue, they joked: “We appreciate being nominated for absolutely everything,” before quipping about not being up for Best British Female. Sorry boys, maybe next year.
